Discounts for students and pensioners
I believe that psychological services should be accessible to everyone regardless of their financial circumstances. The following discounted fees are available to full-time students and pensioners:
- 50-minute consultation: $90
- Weekend/after-hours surcharge: $20
- Assessment & report-writing (per hour): $90
Medicare rebate
If you are referred to a psychologist by your doctor, you can claim a Medicare rebate of $84.80 per session for up to 10 sessions of psychological therapy per calendar year. The full fee is payable upfront and the rebate may be claimed from Medicare afterwards. This results in an out-of-pocket expense of only $5.20 per session for full-time students and pensioners.
Private health funds
You may be eligible to receive a contribution towards psychological services from your private health fund. Please check the details of your cover with your provider if you intend to make a claim.
